Soft pastel’s jewel-like pigment is perfect for capturing the glow of sunlight as it illuminates the landscape. Guided by a master pastel painter, create pastel artworks while learning the medium’s techniques and nuances.
Students alternate between painting along with the instructor or working independently on projects. They learn how to block in forms from a reference photo; how to render light and shadow; and how to use soft-pastel techniques such as developing the right touch, holding the stick in varied ways, and using a repertoire of strokes to model form and to create texture and depth. Class concludes with a gentle critique and Q&A session. Some previous drawing experience is required, and all levels of pastel experience are welcome.

Patron Information
- If you register multiple individuals, you will be asked to supply individual names and email addresses so they can receive a Zoom link email. Please note that if there is a change in program schedule or a cancellation, we will notify you via email, and it will be your responsibility to notify other registrants in your group.
- Unless otherwise noted, registration for streaming programs typically closes two hours prior to the start time on the date of the program.
