Learn how to turn spring foliage into beautiful botanical watercolors as well as prints on paper. Start the day by learning to contour draw to create basic spring-leaf shapes. Turn these leaf drawings into transparent watercolor paintings, using the technique of painting light to dark.

In the afternoon, experiment with leaves in a different medium as you use a walking press—a portable press that uses body weight—to make leaf prints on a variety of papers using water-based ink.  At the end of the day, take home at least two 8-by-10-inch watercolor paintings and several sheets of botanical leaf prints.

A $20 supply fee payable to the instructor covers all supplies, which include a 12-pan watercolor set to take home. Students should bring an apron or wear old clothes.
