Day One: July 1, 1863
From the Gettysburg National Military Park’s visitors center, move to Chambersburg Pike, site of Gen. John F. Reynolds’ death, the savage fight between the Union's Iron Brigade and Brig. Gen. James Archer's Confederates, and the battle for McPherson's Woods. Stops include the Eternal Light Peace Memorial on Oak Hill and Barlow's Knoll.
This tour runs from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., by bus from the Holiday Inn Capitol 550 C Street, S.W., with a pickup stop at the I-270 Exit 26 Urbana carpool parking lot at about 8:55 a.m.
Lunch at a local restaurant is included. Dress appropriately for battlefield walks.
