Transfers are a valuable resource for incorporating representative imagery into your abstract work, and each method provides a unique look. Printed photos offer superb starts for true mixed-media gems, and mixing and matching techniques with different surfaces makes it all the more fun
Topics covered include applications for image transfers (focal point, pattern, theme); choosing and preparing images; materials and techniques for image transfers; tools and materials for altering photos; altered photos as stand-alone artwork; and altered photos with collage. Students provide photos*; all other supplies provided.

2 sessions, 5 hours each
*Students please provide an assortment of color and/or black & white photographs (6-10), any size -- e.g., old vacation photos of landscapes/places; monuments, people, beaches, etc.; buildings; interesting subject matter of any kind and 10-12 black & white laser copies (not inkjet) --i.e. done on any commercial copier like Staples, Office Depot, etc.) of any images you like; can be people, animals, places, buildings, machinery, etc. These can be from your personal photos or some other source. Images with high contrast are best. One interesting variation is to take something you like and do it in a few different sizes.
