Create a striking floral composition in stained-glass mosaic. Working from photographs or master paintings, students learn the nuances of working in stained glass and cutting techniques especially suited for this subject matter.
The instructor provides a selection of images to choose from to create a project of approximately 9" x 11" or 10" x 10” during the class. Students can select to work in the direct method or the double-reverse technique, working directly over the image.
In addition to creating a beautiful mosaic students are introduced to working with stained glass as a mosaic material, including cutting techniques, sourcing, preparation of materials, and fabrication methods. Stained glass is an inherently versatile mosaic material, readily available and cost-effective.
A $65 supply fee, payable to the instructor at the first class, includes substrate, an ample selection of stained glass, adhesive, and grout. Students are welcome to bring supplemental mosaic materials. Student-provided inspiration art must be approved 2 weeks in advance.
Previous mosaic or stained glass experience is helpful but not required. Returning students may work independently during the session on works of their choice.
