Washington is known for its vibrant arts and culture scene, and theater is set to be especially exciting in the 2023–2024 season. With more than 80 professional companies in the area, how can fans really know what might be the hottest ticket in town, what’s worth the price, and what they might be able to skip?

As part of the annual Theatre Week celebration, join Amy Austin, president and CEO of Theatre Washington, and a panel of critics and writers as they explore why D.C. is considered one of the best theater towns in the country, and what’s in store on local stages large and small.

The robust conversation is moderated by Lauren Halvorsen, a freelance dramaturg and publisher of the theater blog Nothing for the Group, and includes Nicole Hertvik from DC Theater Arts, Sarah Marloff from Washington City Paper, and André Hereford from Metro Weekly. They’ll offer insights on women in DC-area theatre, new work, underrepresented communities, and the depth and range of the upcoming season.

Recommended Program: If you are interested in this program, we recommend you consider registering for Behind the Curtain: A Day with DC-area Theater Makers, an in-person tour on Saturday, November 4.
