U.S. Supreme Court

Each fall, nine Supreme Court justices begin hearing and deliberating the country’s most important—and often most controversial—legal cases.

Get in on the conversation in this afternoon panel where top experts on the Supreme Court preview some of the cases the court will take up.

1:30 to 3:30 p.m.   Perspectives on the Court

At the Ripley Center, legal experts debate critical issues raised in some of the cases the court will hear. The panel includes Acting Solicitor General Ian Gershengorn, who represents the United States before the Supreme Court; Jeff Wall, co-head of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP’s appellate litigation practice; Melissa Arbus Sherry, deputy managing partner of the Washington, D.C., office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Supreme Court and appellate practice; and Amy Howe, editor and reporter for SCOTUSblog. Kannon Shanmugam, head of Williams & Connolly’s Supreme Court and appellate litigation practice, serves as moderator.

This program does not include a trip to the Supreme Court.
