As part of the 2020 DC Francophonie Festival, join us for a free special conversation that examines the Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) and its evolution.
H.E. Faycal Gouia, ambassador of Tunisia to the United States; H.E. Varuzhan Nersesyan, ambassador of Armenia to the United States; H.E. Philippe Étienne, ambassador of France to the United States; and Dr. Mohamed Saliou Camara, chair of African Studies at Howard University, discuss the history of the OIF and its role in supporting the French-speaking word. Topics include the status of the French language around the globe, including in the digital world and in the economy of the future, and the priorities of the organization’s current presidency, Armenia (2018–20), and its incoming presidency, Tunisia (2020–22).
Dr. Boutheina Bridaa, an assistant professor in the department of French and Francophone Studies at Georgetown University, serves as moderator.
