Background textures by instructor Marta Legeckis
Backgrounds filled with color or texture can add extra dimension and interest to your work in calligraphy, handwriting, or other projects. Have fun creating them as you use sumi, walnut, and colored inks as well as pastels and other color media in conjunction with a variety of calligraphic and mark-making tools. Through exercises and experimentation, see how these elements can be combined to produce backgrounds that are unique and exciting—or artwork that can stand on its own.
All materials and supplies are provided. Bring an apron or smock and any personal mark-making tools (pens, brushes, etc.) that you’d like to use. The class is open to all levels, with no experience needed.
