This course is an introduction to J.M.W. Turner's vast achievements in watercolor with particular attention to his manner of expressing light and atmosphere. By looking into his work, participants investigate Turner's vision and process to deepen their watercolor practice. In-class exercises revolve around making studies of masterworks with an emphasis on creating cohesive sketches, not exact replicas.
A beginning watercolor class or equivalent experience is strongly recommended, but not required for this course.
