Improv quiltmaking allows for spontaneous design development as opposed to following a pre-determined plan. We will look at today’s trends of raw edge piecing and appliqué skills in the context of spontaneous design and color choices. Student skills of both hand or machine work are welcome. The goal is to allow the student the freedom to move ahead on their own with confidence. The project will be a wall hanging/table runner—small enough to finish and large enough to give room to experiment.
Examples of spontaneous design quilts past and present will provide inspiration.
