Inspired by the natural stone cathedrals of the West, capture the dramatic majesty of the scenery in an original watercolor painting. Review reference photos to discover how the time of day affects the lighting as it creates dynamic shapes and shadows. Experiment with simple quick-sketch approaches to warm up using flowing lines and colors. Use the power of values and color harmony to inform your color selections. After you fine-tune a larger drawing, the instructor takes you step-by-step through to a finished painting. Capture dramatic light and colorful shadows, create texture with brushwork, and layer up luminescent color to express your impression.
