Inspired by the life and cooking of his abuela Teresa, chef Rubén García founded Casa Teresa in downtown Washington as an homage to the home cooks who created the tradition of Catalan cuisine. García’s roots in the culinary world run through Spain’s finest kitchens. Beginning in the Michelin-starred kitchens of Jean Luc Figueras and Martín Berasategui, Garcia enhanced his knowledge of innovative techniques, imaginative presentation, and high-quality products during his five years with Ferran Adrià at El Bulli. He continued pushing the limits of avant-garde cooking as creative director of José Andrés’ minibar. With Casa Teresa, García returned to his roots with simple, wood-fired dishes that offer diners a taste of the big family feasts from his childhood in Catalonia.
