Yoga can be a lifestyle medicine that promotes brain health, mental health, and overall well-being. Join Linda Lang, a certified yoga therapist, as she offers an opportunity to refine your experience of the breath as a time-honored calming strategy. Learn how to embrace yogic thinking and specific breath techniques to cultivate a healthier relationship with your body and mind.

Simple and gentle breathing practices can transform a heightened state of alert into a sense of safety and sacredness. The benefits are frequently immediate as the vagus nerve is stimulated and increases emotional self-regulation. A heightened awareness of the ways we tend to breathe (or not) throughout the day can lead to remarkable self-discoveries: learning to control emotional reactivity; regulating heartbeat and blood pressure; increasing the flow of anti-inflammatories; and reducing fatigue.

Breathing practices also offer an approach to pain management, as well as coping with depression, anxiety, fearfulness and anger. In an information-filled, interactive session, learn ways to strengthen your body, mind, and confidence in dealing with difficult situations (and people) as you learn how to breathe your way to better being.
