Yoga can be more than a lifestyle choice: It can also be a lifestyle medicine that promotes brain health, mental health and overall well-being. 

Linda Lang, a certified yoga therapist, shares how yoga can both prevent illness and injury and also help in coping with chronic issues including arthritis, pain management, cardiovascular disease, and even depression and anxiety. She is joined by Jane Stelboum, Lynne Valdes, Samantha Parker, and Marsha Banks-Harold, yoga therapists whose work spans all areas of health and wellness.

9:30–10:45 a.m.  What We Know Now

Review of research supporting evidence-based practices; demonstration and practice of movement, breath exercises, meditation and chant for physical and emotional well-being.

10:45 a.m.–12 p.m.  Yoga as Lifestyle Medicine

How to develop easy and natural daily practices; perspectives on how practices are applied and adapted to people living with special conditions and physical limitations.

12–1 p.m.  Lunch (boxed lunch provided)

1–2:15 p.m.  Yoga Throughout Your Life

Essential, attainable everyday practice are discussed, demonstrated, and experienced, with philosophical support from ancient texts and contemporary teaching.
