Materials for this program

Please Note: This program has rescheduled dates (originally January 17-31, 2024).

Socks are among the most popular knitting projects because they are easy to carry, quick to complete, and require techniques that keep the knitter's interest. More than that, making socks helps knitters learn skills that they can use in all kinds of projects.

This course allows participants to learn how to make socks in a supportive, low-pressure setting, with time between sessions to work on projects. During the first class, explore circular knitting techniques and slip stitch knitting and begin a sock project. Next, participants learn about short rows, picking up stitches, and how to turn a heel. The final class includes Kitchener seams, finishing, and alternative sock construction. Knitters should be able to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off or be ready to acquire intermediate-level skills.
