Americans have always been a people on the move—on rails, roads, waterways, and airways. Smithsonian museums are filled with stories of how transportation has changed our world, from the development of the bike to delivering mail to remote corners of the world, patented moving machines to the growth of the American highway system. Inspired by these examples and a visit to the Smithsonian’s SparkLab, campers build and race their own vehicles and propose designs for transportation modes of the future.
