From clothing to architecture to product packaging to traffic signs, design is used all around us to improve our lives. Campers search out evidence of design elements and principles in Smithsonian objects, exhibits, and buildings and master the manipulation of those elements and principles to create an effective—and beautiful—product. They master a four-step design process—defining problems, generating ideas, prototyping/making, and testing/evaluating—through a series of fun exercises and design challenges, including home redesigns and textile printmaking.
