Juno was one of five beach landings on D-Day, June 6, 1944. The 3rd Canadian Division's D-Day objectives were to capture Carpiquet Airfield and reach the Caen–Bayeux railway line by nightfall. The British glider attack on Pegasus Bridge allowed the Allies to disrupt German reinforcements to the Normandy beaches where the British and Canadians were landing. These military actions by land, sea, and air achieved mixed results, and few objectives were met that day.
