Did you know something as simple as a screw is considered a "machine?" Campers construct and combine simple machines from recycled and household materials. They discover the engineering design process as they solve daily challenges; investigate levers, pulleys and inclined planes; and exercise their critical thinking skills while building upon every day's work to fabricate a Rube Goldberg-styled wacky invention. Visits to invention exhibits at the American History Museum and patent models at the American Art Museum inspire designs for a moving showcase at the end of the week.
