How can something that covers 71% of the Earth’s surface be so vulnerable to damage by humans? Adventurers join leagues of scientists, including some from the Smithsonian, in efforts to keep the world’s oceans healthy. They take on ocean exploration and study, marine preservation, and sustainability efforts with virtual visits to the Natural History Museum; conduct research on the Smithsonian’s Ocean Portal; and participate in ocean cleanup challenges right from home.

In grade-appropriate, week-long sessions, participants take a deep dive into the Smithsonian’s collections. These Adventures engage young people with unique content about natural sciences, history, art, and so much more. Weekday sessions explore a variety of Smithsonian topics and include virtual visits to museums, hands-on projects, games, collaborative challenges, and conversations with experts during 2 hours of live, online interaction with a team of experienced instructors.

Registration for this Adventure will close two weeks prior to the first session date.  If you are trying to register after that point, please email us at SummerCamp@si.edu and we will do our best to accommodate your request if space is still available.
