The Battle of Berlin was the last major European battle during World War II. Also known as the Fall of Berlin, it was fought in the streets of Berlin from April 16 to May 2, 1945, between the Soviet Union and its allies and Germany. The battle ended with the fall of Berlin to the Soviet Red Army. Campers explore the end of WW2 through discussions and historical simulations using information from maps, timelines, and museum visits. They create dioramas and fight battles with miniature soldiers, as well as engage in group-strategy games using large geographical maps. Fictional and nonfiction accounts, graphic novels, reference books, and related films and documentaries give campers a grounding in the period’s history.
