Not everyone may be able to visit Smithsonian museums, but this Adventure digitally delivers objects and artwork from its collections to create your own museum in miniature right at home. Budding curators make virtual visits to Smithsonian exhibitions and miniature museums around the country for inspiration to design and build their own shoebox exhibits. From collection and creation to display and labeling, adventurers incorporate Smithsonian objects into their miniature masterpieces to tell their own stories.
In grade-appropriate, week-long sessions, participants take a deep dive into the Smithsonian’s collections. These Adventures engage young people with unique content about natural sciences, history, art, and so much more. Weekday sessions explore a variety of Smithsonian topics and include virtual visits to museums, hands-on projects, games, collaborative challenges, and conversations with experts during 2 hours of live, online interaction with a team of experienced instructors.
Multiple Offerings! This Adventure is also offered at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET. The same material will be taught in both sessions; please do not register for both.
