Where does our food come from? Do vegetables really taste better if you grow them yourself? Using the collections of the Smithsonian Gardens and the American History Museum, adventurers discover some of the many ways people grow food; explore why some vegetables are actually fruits and some fruits are actually vegetables; and how to start a garden of their own to grow  favorite foods. By the end of the session, adventurers will have plotted their dream garden on paper and participated in seed germination experiments.

Smithsonian Adventures and experts at the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center have partnered to make the world of the Smithsonian the perfect destination for young learners. In live one-hour sessions three times a week, educators lead interactive explorations of objects and artworks in the Smithsonian’s collections that spark art making and experimentation.
