This year’s Smithsonian Folklife Festival brings a little bit of Brazil to the National Mall, offering campers the perfect way to explore the country’s art, folklore, language, music, and dances. Visits to the festival, the Natural History Museum, and the National Zoo prepare campers to create masks inspired by the Amazon rainforest and the many animals of Brazil. They also discover Brazilian music, make their own instruments, and learn the tango. Friends are invited to a presentation in the spirit of Rio’s famed carnival at the end of the week.
