From clothing to architecture, product packaging to traffic signs, design is used all around us to improve our lives. Campers search out design elements and learn the principles behind them as they view Smithsonian objects, exhibits, and buildings. They use those elements and principles to create an effective—and beautiful—product. Campers master a four-step design process—defining problems, generating ideas, prototyping/making, and testing/evaluating—through a series of fun exercises and design challenges, including home redesigns and textile printmaking.
