Pi Day! 3.14159265358979....
The digits of pi were known to a few dozen places by the 1600s. In 1961 Daniel Shanks and John W. Wrench Jr. used an IBM 7090 computer to compute pi to 100,000 places! This is a copy of their printout in the Smithsonian!
