Americans have always been a people on the move—on the rails, roads, waterways, and through the air. Smithsonian museums showcase how transportation has transformed the world from the invention of the bicycle and the delivery of mail to remote communities, to groundbreaking patented machines and the expansion of the American highway system. Inspired by these examples and a visit to the Smithsonian’s Spark!Lab, campers build and race their own vehicles and propose designs for transportation modes of the future.
