Join Food and Wine magazine’s 2019 Sommelier of the Year Erik Segelbaum in an enjoyable interactive workshop series into the worlds of French and Italian wine, designed to boost the wine IQ of both novices and seasoned aficionados.

In tastings and talks Segelbaum offers new insights, unravels misconceptions, reinvigorates your love of favorite varieties, and guides you in discovering some new ones. He also offers tips on navigating restaurant wine lists, tackling food and wine pairings, and more useful topics for wine lovers.

NOTE: Must be 21 or older to attend this program.

FEATURED WINE REGION

Central and Southern Italy

Segelbaum’s Italian journey continues into the central temperate zones of the Marche and Tuscany, where Sangiovese tops the list of favorites. Understand the differences among Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile, and other varieties. And learn what defines a Super Tuscan wine. Then it’s on to the hot Mediterranean south, source of the rich concentrated wines of Puglia and the fresh and bright expressions from the volcanic island of Sicily.

ABOUT ERIK SEGELBAUM

Segelbaum holds the designation of Advanced Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, one of fewer than 600 specialists in the world who hold this level of certification. He is the former corporate wine and beverage director for Starr Restaurants, a wine journalist and educator, and chief vinnovation officer of SOMLYAY hospitality and private events consultancy.
