Instructor Eric J. Jenkins is an architect, professor, and author who believes that understanding the designed world begins by looking at things differently—a process that’s both visual and tactile. Students sketch using a variety of analytical approach, focusing on producing drawings that are exploratory and diagnostic rather than direct pictorial representations.
Jenkins’s most recent book, Drawn to Design: Analyzing Architecture Through Freehand Drawing (Birkhauser, 2012), explores why and how freehand drawing can promote design awareness. No drawing experience is required.
