PLEASE NOTE: Due to road closures and increased security on and around the National Mall for the Presidential Inauguration the start date for this program has been postponed from January 19 to January 26, 2017.
This is a process-oriented class with an emphasis on visual way of thinking. Explore the basis of abstraction by studying color, line, shape and composition and learn how our emotions are influenced by the interplay of these visual elements. Create exciting and innovative works of art using a series of drawing, painting, and collage exercises designed to examine different ways of handling traditional materials and subject matter.
The class also explores the roots of abstraction, its conceptual basis, and its reflection in examples of contemporary art. Slide shows, critiques, and group discussion contribute to the process.
