The Smithsonian Chorale rehearsal, scheduled for 10:30 am. on Thursday, January 19th in the S. Dillon Ripley Center, room 3035, has been postponed due to restrictions surrounding the Inauguration preparations. A reschedule date will be announced at the next class session.
Spend Thursday mornings in song and in good company with the new Smithsonian Chorale. Gather around the piano with fellow music enthusiasts while conductor Cheryl Branham teaches the basics of singing, proper breathing techniques and how to improve your voice through tone production in four-part singing.
In a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere participants continue to improve their singing as they rehearse together learning multi-part compositions with a repertoire of selected songs from popular, sacred, show tunes and opera music. The series culminates in a free public performance. Additional recitals might be included. No professional experience is required.
Branham is a conductor, pianist, director of music at the historic Calvary Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., and former assistant conductor of the Washington Chorus.
12 sessions plus performance.
