Spend Thursdays in song and in good company with the new Smithsonian Chorale. Gather around the piano with fellow music enthusiasts while conductor Cheryl Branham teaches proper breathing techniques and how to improve your voice through tone production in four-part singing.
Each week participants rehearse together learning multi-part compositions by early-American composers such as Stephen Foster and William Billings, along with spirituals, show tunes, and other selections. The series culminates in a free public performance. No professional experience is required.
Branham is a conductor, pianist, current director of music at the historic Calvary Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., and former assistant conductor of The Washington Chorus.
