Grab a brush, clay, or calligraphy pen—and a cocktail—and dive into an evening that will coax out or celebrate the artist in you. Explore the wide range of spring studio arts classes offered by The Smithsonian Associates and have a terrific time as you do so.

There will be plenty to sample all through this entertaining and informal evening. Observe nationally and internationally known artists as they demonstrate their unique techniques—then try them yourself.

Craft a clay scarab pendant. Tour the Smithsonian’s photo lab and make some darkroom magic. Blend stamping, calligraphy, and collage to make a unique card. Try a right-brain drawing exercise or experience color theory in action. Use traditional printmaking techniques to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Whether you’re an old hand at making something by hand or have long wanted to step into the studio or darkroom, this is the perfect evening to tap into that inspiration. Instructors will be on hand to provide answers, encouragement, and spark your creativity.

Ticket pricing as follows:

  • In advance: Resident Members $25, Gen. Admission $45
  • At door: Resident Members $30, Gen. Admission $50

One drink ticket for a specialty cocktail or nonalcoholic beverage and light hors d’oeuvres is included with admission. A cash bar offers a specialty cocktail, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic beverages throughout the evening. You must be at least 21 years old with a valid ID to attend. This is not a seated event.

Capture a memory of the evening in our photo booth where you can dress-up as an artist!
