Biographer Bob Spitz portrays her life as an adventure story: work for the OSS, spying in Ceylon with husband Paul Child, attending the Cordon Bleu in Paris, where the idea of adapting French cuisine for mainstream America began to stir, and a long career on public television.
Child was a woman of taste, passion, and intelligence, known to all, yet fully known by few.
