Math and music—two concepts that may seem very far apart yet converge in very interesting ways. In this fast-paced evening featuring live performance, film clips, and audience participation, National Symphony Orchestra cellist Yvonne Caruthers and her colleagues—flutist Aaron Goldman and percussionist Daniel Villanueva—use excerpts by composers such as Steve Reich, Maurice Ravel, and Richard Strauss to guide you through several mathematical concepts found in music. Music and math lovers will leave with new ways of thinking about their passion. No math or music background is required to enjoy the evening.
