Necklace by Mïa Vollkommer

Explore the beautiful depth and color produced by creating a patina on metal. Students cut, texture, and rivet decorative connectors using layers of jeweler’s brass or copper. After the patination process (using one of several chemical compounds), they design and create a multi-strand necklace using crimping techniques and a sliding-knot finish that allows the piece to be worn at a variety of different lengths. The class is perfect for anyone from beginning beaders to those with any level of metalsmithing experience.

All metals and patina solutions are provided as a kit to be purchased in class ($15; kit plus shop shears, $30), and Studio Arts hand tools are available to borrow.
