NOTE: Registration will close for this program at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, January 21, 2022.

The kolam—a daily artistic practice from southern India in which lines and dots are arranged in symmetrical patterns—is a starting point for your own fiber-art creation. Begin by studying examples of these beautiful continuous-line designs, and practice drawing them on paper. Then, design and create a quilted wallhanging, employing techniques for making lines and dots in fiber, background designs, and finishing. There’s an opportunity for the group to share questions and discuss their projects after the first class.

Kolam is also a personal centering practice that connects the movement of the hand with the quieting of the mind. It’s also used as a gratitude practice, or a helpful tool in dealing with daily difficulties.

Appropriate for all levels of quilting experience.

This class will be recorded. Please see our FAQ for recording terms and conditions.
