Join art historian Bonita Billman for a day at the Philadelphia Museum of Art featuring a guided tour of the special exhibition The Impressionist’s Eye, devoted to the works of Monet, Cassatt, Van Gogh, and other leaders of the tightly knit group of creators who revolutionized art in the early 1900s.
The exhibition puts the movement’s fluidity on display as it showcases the collaborative nature of these artists, who constantly inspired and experimented with one another in their style, subject matter, and medium. Covering sculpture, painting, and works on paper, the exhibition includes works of approximately 70 impressionists and post-impressionists and draws mostly from the museum’s own collection. Highlights include Renoir’s major work Large Bathers, and rarely seen objects such as pages from Cezanne’s sketchbook.
After the tour, enjoy lunch on the museum’s East Balcony, after which there is plenty of free time to enjoy all the galleries have to offer
