Discover multiple methods for making and using image transfers and expanding your creative horizons with photo alteration. Transfers are a valuable resource for incorporating representative imagery into your abstract work, and each method provides a unique look. Printed photos offer superb starts for true mixed-media gems, and mixing and matching techniques with different surfaces makes it all the more fun

Topics covered include applications for image transfers (focal point, pattern, theme); choosing and preparing images; materials and techniques for image transfers; tools and materials for altering photos; altered photos as stand-alone artwork; and altered photos with collage. Students please provide the following photo supplies:

  • 6-10 color and/or black & white photographs, any size (e.g. old vacation photos of landscapes/places; monuments, people, beaches, etc.; buildings; interesting subject matter of any kind)
  • 10-12 black-and-white laser copies* (not inkjet) of any images you like of people, animals, places, buildings, machinery, etc. These can be from your personal photos or some other source. Images with high contrast are best. One interesting variation is to take something you like and do it in a few different sizes.

All other supplies are provided.
