After living, and eating, in Italy for the past 25 years, food writer Elizabeth Minchilli has come to understand something about the art of the Italian table—and food is only one facet.
Drawing on her new book, The Italian Table: Creating Festive Meals for Family and Friends, Minchilli looks at how Italians come together for meals. Whether the dish is a simple pizza or a sumptuous spread, she provides insights into how to make the gathering of people together to share a meal a special time. She shares recipes collected during her travels in Italy, from Sunday lunch in Emilia-Romagna with ricotta and swiss chard Tortelli to a table by the sea in Positano with Mozzarella on grilled lemon leaves, squid and walnut salad.
Join her and cookbook author Domenica Marchetti in a lively discussion about what goes into an Italian meal. They consider Italy’s many food-focused traditions, as well as the way they are celebrated every day at the table.
Stay for a small bite at the conclusion of the program.
Minchilli is founder of the Eat Italy app. Her books, blogs, apps, and food tours have been praised by The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Travel & Leisure, and more.
