American craft traditions have long been highlighted in the White House holiday experience. This interactive session begins with Coleen Christian Burke’s overview of modern first ladies’ holiday ornaments, including Patricia Nixon’s decorated chandeliers, Rosalynn Carter’s birthday hats, and Laura Bush’s topiaries made from ornaments.

Then, have fun creating a holiday ornament for your house, inspired by the people’s house: Michelle Obama’s meaningful hanging envelope.

Attendance is limited to 30 to maximize interaction among the instructor and participants.
