Exploring Eastern Calligraphy: Persian and Arabic Script

8-Session Weekend Course

Sunday, October 20 to December 22, 2019 - 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (no class Nov. 10 or Dec. 1)
Code: 1K00QS

By Sughra Hussainy

Please Note: The start and end time to this course's schedule is updated (originally 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. for all 8 sessions) and the end date is now Dec. 22, 2019 (originally Dec. 15, 2019).

Examine Eastern traditions as you discover calligraphy’s connection to language, literary arts, and religion. Sughra Hussainy, a graduate of Turquoise Mountain Institute in Kabul, Afghanistan, teaches traditional elements of Persian and Arabic calligraphy, with verses by Rumi and from the Quran providing the inspiration for artwork. Both texts were part of her life growing up and living in Afghanistan, and they influence her calligraphic art.

All supplies included.
