Please Note: The tour departs by motorcoach from downtown Washington, DC with a designated secondary pick-up outside the city. Content delivered by the study leader on the way to the destination, after the secondary pick-up, is an integral part of the study tour experience. Meeting the group once the tour is en route is discouraged.

The 104-year-old Baltimore Museum of Art, whose collections encompass 19th-century, modern, and contemporary art, houses 95,000 holdings including the largest collection of works by Henri Matisse in the world. Spend a day at the museum enjoying its highlights and the Cone Collection, as well as the special exhibit The Rembrandt Effect.
The internationally renowned Cone Collection is the crown jewel of the BMA. In the early 20th century, Baltimore sisters Claribel and Etta Cone visited the Paris studios of Matisse and Picasso and began amassing an exceptional collection of approximately 3,000 objects, including 500 works by Matisse, which were displayed in their Baltimore apartments.
The Rembrandt Effect, on view in the new Nancy Dorman and Stanley Mazaroff Center for the Study of Prints, Drawings and Photographs, examines the Dutch master’s extraordinary influence on the history of Western printmaking by connecting his etchings to those of European and American graphic artists of the 19th and 20th centuries including Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Édouard Manet, James A. M. Whistler, Mary Cassatt, and Mary Nimmo Moran.
Art historian Ursula Wolfman leads the tour.
Lunch is included at celebrated Gertrude’s restaurant in the museum, which offers a modern menu that celebrates the culinary traditions of the Chesapeake region.
