This tour is also available on Oct. 12. Additional tours focused on immigrant members are scheduled for Oct. 6 and Oct. 13.

The more than 400,000 service members buried at Arlington National Cemetery represent a cross-section of both the diversity of the American military and our nation itself.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, visit memorials and graves to hear the stories of noteworthy Latino service members. Among them are one of Theodore Roosevelt’s colorful Rough Riders; a World War II soldier denied burial in Texas because he was Mexican American; an Air Force general who became the first administrator of the Federal

Aviation Administration; a trilingual Marine who inspired a major Hollywood film; an Army nurse killed in Iraq; a former member of Congress who led the efforts to establish Martin Luther King’s birthday as a national holiday; and the young officer who received the Medal of Honor for whom a plaza is named in Alexandria.

Jim Carr, a master Washington tour guide and author, leads the tour.

This tour is two hours and length and meets inside the Arlington National Cemetery Welcome Center next to Memorial Drive. Note: Please allow extra time to go through the Welcome Center's security area before the start of this tour.
