The Nicomachean Ethics is one of the most influential works on human happiness ever written. Its author, Aristotle (384–322 B.C.), gives an account of what happiness is and the conditions under which it can be attained. Michael Gorman, professor of philosophy at The Catholic University of America, examines this seminal treatise on practical wisdom and its lasting influence on Western thinking about living one’s best life ethically.

2:45 to 4 p.m. Happiness, Contemplation, Friendship, and Politics

The connection between happiness, pleasure, and good fortune. Also, a look at its connection to friendship and to politics. What does a happy life look like?

  • If you register multiple individuals, you will be asked to supply individual names and email addresses so they can receive a Zoom link email.
