Enjoy a creative afternoon with sculptor Kevin Reese, exploring the colorful world of Alexander Calder’s moving art and making mobiles of your own. Begin with an introduction to Calder’s life and work and an examination of how his mobiles and wire sculptures created an entirely new form.

Reese guides participants in putting together a full-scale mobile from pre-made pieces, then teaches the cutting, fabrication, and assembly skills to make a mobile to take home. All supplies including tools, wire, colored card stock, and a custom mobile stand are provided.

The program concludes with a wine-and-cheese reception and a viewing of participants’ work.

Reese is a teacher, facilitator, and visual artist with more than 40 years of experience working with educational and corporate communities. He initiated SchoolSculptures with Kevin Reese in 2001, a residency program to work collaboratively with participants to create large permanent moving sculptures in civic spaces, performing arts centers, and schools. He currently has more than 190 sculpture installations in 30 states across the country.
