In early December, the Smithsonian Chamber Players will record Antonin Dvorák’s delightful Bagatelles, Op. 47 for two violins, cello, and harmonium, and Artistic Director Kenneth Slowik’s new reconstruction of the now-lost original nonet version of the bucolic Serenade in D Major, Op. 11 by Johannes Brahms.
While the December recording session will not be open to the public, the ensemble offers an open rehearsal of these two arch-Romantic works in an intimate setting, with a brief discussion of their genesis and instrumentation.
