By Sharon Robinson

For millennia, assemblage has been an art form used across cultures and in contexts from religious to abstract. Experiment with this mixed-media form as you create tactile pieces working with wood panels and boxes. Explore ways to enshrine personal mementos, objects, photos, and other materials in a three-dimensional format that can stand alone or be wall mounted. Draw inspiration from traditional religious iconography, historic resources, and folk art, as well as works by artists such as Joseph Cornell, Louise Nevelson, Kurt Schwitters, and Betye Saar.

Choose from a wide range of materials to use as embellishments, including papers, fabric, paint, metal, charms, wire, beads, and found objects. The addition of doors, lighting, and other features is optional.

Note: In-person programs are not recorded.
