Discover the illustrative potential of fiber art as you create a one-of-a-kind art book to document and preserve moments from your creative journey. Explore basic design principles with fabric, including the relationship of figure and ground, symmetry and asymmetry, and how to create perspective using color and line. Fusing, hand-stitching and embellishing techniques are also explored. The course is Ideal for beginners looking to gain confidence in skills and art concepts, and experienced artists seeking a new form in which to express their creative selves.

Lauren Kingsland is a master quilter with extensive experience in making and teaching all styles of quiltmaking. Heather Kerley is an art-school trained painter and fiber artist.

• This studio arts program is a Zoom Meeting to allow for patron and instructor interaction.

Patron Information

• If you register multiple individuals, you will be asked to supply individual names and email addresses so they can receive a Zoom link email. Please note that if there is a change in program schedule or a cancellation, we will notify you via email, and it will be your responsibility to notify other registrants in your group.
• Unless otherwise noted, registration for streaming programs typically closes two hours prior to the start time on the date of the program.
• Once registered, patrons should receive an automatic email confirmation from CustomerService@SmithsonianAssociates.org.
